Winter: European high season — book early; days are warm, evenings mild (15–17 °C), Teide often snow-capped. Spring: quiet, green after winter rains, wildflowers in the Teno hills. Summer: hottest and driest; occasional calima (Saharan haze). Autumn: warm sea, softening light, thinning crowds.
The west-coast advantage
The Teno massif blocks the northern trade-wind clouds, so Los Gigantes is regularly sunny when the north is grey. That's why this coast is the winter-sun capital of the island.
