Los Gigantes Beach (Playa de Los Guíos)

Playa de Los Guíos is the black-sand beach directly beneath the Los Gigantes cliffs — small, dramatic and sheltered. Swimming under a 600-metre wall of rock is an experience few beaches in Europe can match.

What it's like

You reach it past the marina; the cliffs begin right at its northern end. The water is usually calm in the morning, clear enough for snorkelling by the rocks. Space is limited — it fills by late morning in season.

Practical

Arrive before 11:00 for a good spot. There's a beach shower and a kiosk; bring your own umbrella if you want guaranteed shade. Watch the flags: on rare swell days the shore-break gets strong.

FAQ

Is the black sand hot?

In summer afternoons, yes — flip-flops recommended.

Is it good for kids?

On calm days yes, but the drop-off is quicker than at Playa de la Arena; keep an eye on the flags.
