The local's beach
This is where Puerto de Santiago residents swim before work. The bay is framed by lava rock, the water is clear and there's a small quay where kids jump in the afternoon. Sunsets from the little promenade above are the ones you'll see from the studio balcony.
When to go
Mornings are glass-calm most of the year. On days with north-west swell the bay catches waves — locals then walk 10 minutes to the more sheltered Playa de la Arena instead.
- Water shoes help on the pebbly entry.
- The restaurant terraces above the bay do great-value menú del día.
- Check the sea state from the studio balcony before walking down.
