Routes in
From the west (your side) enter via Chío — the least trafficked, most dramatic approach through young lava. Return via Vilaflor for the pine-forest descent, or loop north-east down to La Orotava if making a full island day.
Walks for every level
Easy: Roques de García loop (1.5 h) past the iconic Cinchado tower; La Ruleta viewpoint steps. Moderate: Montaña de Guajara flanks or Samara's triple-crater circuit (west side, superb). Hard: Montaña Blanca to the summit with permit/refuge. Every trail rewards absurdly.
Rules
Stay on trails, take nothing (even pebbles), no drones without permits, and no wild camping. The ecosystem above 2 000 m is fragile and unique — the violet Teide bugloss spikes in May–June are protected superstars.
- Weather flips fast: sun, wind and cold in one hour — layers always.
- Best photo light: first and last two hours of the day.
- Combine with stargazing — the park is a certified Starlight destination.
