Sea-level sunsets
From Puerto de Santiago and La Arena the sun melts straight into the Atlantic. In November–January it drops right next to La Gomera — the silhouette moment every guest photographs. The promenade fills quietly at golden hour: it's the town's daily ritual.
Altitude sunsets
Drive 40 minutes up towards Teide and you're above the trade-wind clouds; the sea of clouds below catches fire while Teide's pyramid shadow stretches east. Punta de Teno (check current road-access rules) gives you cliffs, lighthouse and open ocean — the island's end-of-the-world spot.
- Winter sun sets ~18:15–18:45; summer up to 21:10.
- The colour peak comes 15–20 min after the sun disappears — don't leave early.
- Cloudless evenings are pretty; scattered-cloud evenings are spectacular.
