Your local volcano
The Chinyero circular walk (about 2 h, gentle) loops the 1909 cone through pine forest and raw black lava — it starts 20 minutes from the studio above Santiago del Teide. Almond blossom edges the lava in late winter: one of the island's finest easy hikes.
The big one
Las Cañadas caldera holds Teide's cone in a 16-km amphitheatre of ochre, rust and obsidian. Drive in via Boca Tauce for maximum drama. The cable car takes you to 3 555 m; the last 160 m to the crater rim need a free permit booked well ahead (verify availability).
