Tenerife winter sun — Europe's warm room

While Europe scrapes ice: 21–23 °C afternoons, 6–7 sun hours, swimmable ocean, dry air and open terraces — the Canaries' winter is legitimate spring, and the leeward west coast banks its sunniest version. This is the season our regulars built their loyalty on; book earliest for Jan–Feb.

What winter here actually is

Mornings crisp (15 °C, light jumper), afternoons T-shirt, evenings jacket-social. Rain visits briefly a handful of days; Teide wears snow you can drive to between beach sessions — the island's party trick. Vitamin-D refugees develop routines within 48 h: promenade, swim-or-charco, siesta, sunset, repeat until visibly restructured.

Winter-sun strategy

The west's rain-shadow reliably out-suns the north — position matters and yours is optimal. Christmas–New Year books solid a year out; the January 8th–February window is the connoisseur's calm. Long-stayers (2–6 weeks) get direct rates and the town's winter community as a bonus; the studio's washer + kitchenette turn stays residential.

FAQ

Is it warm enough to actually swim?

19–20 °C: yes for the willing (daily local proof), 'refreshing' for the honest, charco-sheltered for the cautious.

How does it compare to Egypt/Caribbean winter?

Milder than tropical but 4 h closer, EU-simple, and culturally a real town rather than a compound. Different product — this one rebooks itself.
